From a small, family business in the 1920’s building truck equipment for local markets, Durabody emerged as an innovative builder of custom truck bodies and trailers with equipment in use all across North America. After years in the family business, Lowell Tipping founded Durabody and Trailer in 1981. Durabody quickly became known as a truck body builder that could take on challenging and unique applications that others in the industry lacked the desire or experience to tackle.
In 1985 Durabody began producing highway trailers with the same philosophy – create unique and innovative solutions to unique applications and produce high-quality products that would exceed their customer’s expectations of quality and longevity. In the years that followed, Durabody’s reputation continued to grow and their response to the needs of their customers helped develop a strong niche in the truck body and trailer business beyond local and regional markets.
In 2006 Durabody was acquired by Shaw Entrepreneurial Venture Inc (SEVI). New people brought new ideas and a new approach to manufacturing and a dedicated management team is determined to continue and build on Durabody’s reputation in the custom, specialty truck body and trailer industry.
Durabody is Transport Canada certified with National Safety Mark #A40 and manufactures according to standards and practices required by the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act. As a long-standing member of the Canadian Transportation Equipment Association (CTEA), Durabody stays up to date with current legislation and trends in the industry.
